6 weeks in! dun dun dunnnn.
time flies - kind of.
So over 2 months now living in Wales - and yes I have not been very up to date with ma stacks, get off ma back! Been trying to settle into Welsh life a lil! Here is a little update for y’all.
Living situ
After unpacking our millions of plants (hahahaha I accidentally types "pilates” then!? what da fook) and trying to cram the remainder of my purged bag of clothes into small drawers and little cubby holes we were in!
The annex is very cute, the perfect lil space really, kitchenette, log burner, wet room shower situation, mezzanine bedroom. Which is perfect for a weeks stay perhaps, but less so when two grown adults are trying to get off their feet workwise…and one of them doesn’t let you have a lie in past 6.30am because of online PT clients. oopsie.soz.
Fast forward a couple of months and no one has killed each other, and it seems to be working well! Probably because we are both out of the house more and actually working out and about Wales! yahoo!
CAN’T GET TOO COMFY THO AS MUCH AS THE IN LAWS SAY WE CAN STAY AS LONG AS WE WANT - I can read in between the lines.. Also we are missing the ability to just be in more than one room (loo doesn’t count) or the freedom to have guests come to stay…but stay tuned! Things are in motion for a move so fingers crossed.
Work n dat
I have clients! I am teaching classes in person! I am teaching online! Yahoo! After a lot of research - I managed to find a lovely place in Fishguard where I am now teaching Pilates a couple times a week, and looking to add more to my roster any week now. Through word of mouth and I *think* my website/Facebook - peeps love the FB out here! - I have managed to grow a little network.
As a personal trainer & pilates teacher I am very grateful that my job means I can pick up and drop myself anywhere - this was purposefully set up as the thought of moving whilst being an Intelligence Analyst that worked from home all day did not fill me with joy. So I changed my job into something I actually enjoyed and that I could move around a bit more. Et voila. WFW bebe.
Surprise surprise people are a little bit more friendly out here - not dissin’ you/us (can I still say us) Londoners, but just calling a spade a spade - there is no gatekeeping which is really refreshing. Everyone is happy to refer you/recommend you and that feels SO welcoming. Thank you Pembs pals x
It is also hard putting myself out there don’t get me wrong, I will NEVER get used to flyering, cringe cringe cringe “can I leave some flyers here” vommm - but so far so good, none have been thrown in the bin - that I know of…
Wanna be my friend?
Still a WIP - I met some lovely people that have asked to go for coffees/walks/drinks and I just need to follow up. The London in me is screaming STRANGER DANGER - DO NOT ENGAGE- but I really do need to. Will update on this front when I become a bit more brave.
I am going to run club this weekend to make some pals. LETS GOOO.
London visits
Been down to London twice to visit, and if you are reading this and you did not know/did not see me IM SORRY OK xoxo! It is too hard to try and see everyone each time, and if I could just slink in and out all sneaky I would love to. It is quite stressful being so popular I have to admit. It is going to take some navigating/just knowing that each visit will be jam packed rammo’d. And also trying not to let people down - pls be understanding that if you are not seen you are still loved. <3.
Won’t be down for about 6 weeks so it will be nice to just rest and settle a little more.
Friend visits
We have had two, yes TWO sets of friends make the long journey to Pembs to see us. Thank you x
YES its over a 5hour drive from London.
YES you will get stuck in traffic on the M4 on the way back.
YES its about £150 return train ticket.
YES it is ages and ages away.
YES you look like an obvious tourist.
YES you need a car to get everywhere.
YES you need waterproofs.
YES it will probably be lovely weather before and after you visit.
NO it is not close to Cardiff.
But please do come, would be delighted to have you.
